On Tuesday January 31, 2012 at approximately 11:15AM, officers Lehan and Branca were dispatched to the Shaws Supermarket for a reported shoplifter. Dispatch further advised that loss prevention officers were chasing the suspect through the parking lot. Officer Lehan spotted the suspect and joined in foot chase which led through McDonalds, across Washington Street and into a strip mall parking lot where Officer Branca was waiting. Realizing he had nowhere to go, the 35 year old Boston man gave up and was taken into custody. Shaws employees informed officers the suspect had stolen several items from the store.
