Canton Citizen News Update

 

Police Chief Ken Berkowitz introduced the town’s new canine, a 10-month Dutch German Shepard called “Bosco,” who will be trained by Police Officer Scott Brown. In fact, Bosco and Officer Brown will under a multi week canine academy program. Bosco will be fully trained by early May and will be used for searches and apprehension of suspects as well as drug investigations.  It is the first time the town has a canine unit of its own in the last 20 years and the cost of the unit was borne mainly by private donations of Bill Dadassis, the Rodman family, the Simoni Foundation and the Canton Association of Industries.  Chief Berkowitz also welcomed the addition of Sean Becker who graduated the Mass.PoliceAcademy and is a full time officer and also welcomed back Lt. Tom Keleher from the FBINationalAcademy. Berkowitz said Canton may be one of the few communities in the state to have four officers selected and graduated  from the academy
